Not the best way to contact attendees but I'll do whatever I can.
If you plan on attending, and are changing oil before you take the
drive to Auburn, please save a sample of your drain oil for analysis.
Blackstone Labs will be conducting a tech session on oil analysis and
Jim Stark has volunteered to take a few samples for analysis. He did
this at GMCES, Delaware, and had the results back in a couple of days.
We can't do this for all attendees so the first to respond will be
the first served.

Steve, great idea but do I really want to know. If they find something wrong
I'd just worry about it or do something stupid like replace the motor.
There are no doubt others who are far braver than I am.
Thanks very much for the offer.

Roger,
Very interesting!
I just went to:
http://www.blackstone-labs.com/
and requested a kit for Double Trouble in the USA. They will send you the
kit FOC and only require you to pay when you send in the samples.
I lucked out as last year I ran out of time and didn't get to change the
engine, trans, final drive or Onan oil before I left. I intend to do it when
I arrive and send in the samples. This will be a good baseline to determine
the condition of the oils as well as the engine/trans/final drive/generator.
I will change all the oils using Mobil 1 engine oil (in the engine and
Onan), Mobil 1 trans fluid; and Mobil 1 final drive oil. We'll probably do
around 4000 miles and I'll pull another sample when I get Double Trouble
ready for storage in Humble.
Hopefully by monitoring the oil contaminants you can anticipate impending
problems before they result in a catastrophic BANG!

Gary,
and then again, it might be just the opposite. The analysis also
will show how well your air filter is working and if you have any
coolant migrating into the oil. Bob lamey uses them and they have
him up to 9,000 miles between changes now. It may even be as high as
15,000 by now and I'll ask him tomorrow. The analysis also shows how
well the additive package in your oil is holding up. Neat stuff.

Folks, another important point when getting an oil analysis, be sure
you list that it's a GMC MOTORHOME, not one of the race cars. This
way, they get a separate group analysis as the base for our individual
ones.
The comment section, I think, is very handy and in plain English for
understanding the analysis. She, yes, SHE does a great job of
explaining what's going on with your mechanicals.
