This 23' Classic GMC motorhome is ready for your rebuild. It is the version with all the windows and front wheel drive. The motor is out and there is no transmission but all the parts are available locally. It has been in storage for 5 years or more and the inside is rough. But what an opportunity to build it the way you want. Contact Dean Hanson in Fremont. 510 657-9600

1974 Painted Desert. O miles on rebuilt engine(Mondello components) and rebuilt transmission. O miles on 6 new Firestones, (tags still on them). New radiator. Original paint. Needs right side windshield, (some idiot broke it). Interior roof panel needs replacement. Interior side panel by door entrance needs replacement. 6K Onan, (haven't started yet, needs muffler). Gas tanks have been pulled and sealed. Have receipts for engine and transmission overhauls. This will clean up nice for someone looking for a project. Registration is current. This is for someone who knows what they are. To many projects and not enough space.

I park at Dean's lot where the 23' coach is located. If anyone needs a
pair of eyes I'll gladly loan you mine.

From what I recall the engine is resting in the rear of the coach.
Maybe I'll snap a few pictures and get the tze number for Dave.

I'm interested in this one I would like a 23 footer and with the parts left after I turn my donor into a trailer, might make a great project.
If you could come up pics it sure would be handy

I'll be at the storage lot later today and upload some pictures. We
are only across town from Jim K's place if you wanted to pay someone
to get it running - his discription makes it sound like the tranny is
missing completely. I know that the front of the coach is
"toothless" - that is the grille is off, and the engine and tranny
(does that cover the final drive too?) is out. No idea what
condition the interior is in.

Let's see if I can find the inner Ansel Adams...

This will make sense to those on the Forum, as they could read the old thread - I'm not sure how it will appear over e-mail. There was a 23' coach for sale on Craigslist back in January that is stored at Dean Hanson's place (where I store mine.) I spoke with Dean today and he is closing his storage yard (not by choice!)

The 23' coach is still there, and I'd bet the owner is very motivated to sell the thing. The listing from January read as follows:

1976 Classic GMC Motorhome - $1000 (fremont / union city / newark)

The engine is in the back of the coach and my very crappy pictures are posted here <http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=32210&title=23-27-fsbo-on-sf-craigsl&cat=all>

I know that it has wheel covers, and not alcoa's. Other than that I just haven't poked around the thing. I'll try to get some more pics of the beast when I'm there on Sunday if anyone is interested.

It is one of those household eve vents and I think it's just there to ventilate the hood. I don't remember seeing anything attached to it.

The windshields look clear and unbroken. It's got a low profile a/c. Those
alone should make it worth the price, not to mention all the other stuff.

Somebody save it!

I've posted pictures of the 23' coach in my storage yard. Everything must be out of the yard by July 15th, so I'd suspect this fellow is motivated.

Some good parts, but it's a project...

My guess is that it was towed 6-down and the springs made up for the lack of caster. Look at the front member that is torn, maybe that was where the rig was towed.

No idea if this is true, or not.

Chr$, those springs are part of a steering stabilizer set-up that was sold years ago. Just junk as far as I was concerned mainly because of the problem shown. One spring loses tension and now you have three opposing it. I would give a customer my views on them and invariably be told to take them off. Just my opinion. By the way, had a great time last week at the car show with you. Have to try and do it again. Jim
