Got my new roof vents. Now to install them. I see there's a flange that's screwed down, so the first question is recommendations for screws (presumably SS?), and the second question is, do I put any kind of sealant under the flange? As you can see from the pictures, the PO had doped a bunch of some kind of sealant on the top of the flange at one time, but it's all cracked and presumably leaking now.

I used 3M 4000 UV polyether adhesive.

I bought it at West Marine.
I used on Gatsbys' CRUISER Very Happy 3 years ago and it has not cracked and it is holding the paint.

On the vents, I put the sealant under the flange and around the screws when I screwed them down.

If you wanted to be extra sure of no leak, you can run a bead over the screw heads and along the vent edges but that may be overkill.

LarC ( Been down the long road of sealants and found this one to finally work well )

For under the flange use putty tape the best you can get from a RV
supply and when it is fully assembled us a lap seal also from an RV
supply
