I was at the mens mall today picking up wiper arms and seat swivels for the GMC and found a super clean wrecked 73 Cadillac with a 472. The odometer shows 68,000 miles and looks to be actual from the condition of the interior. I understand changing the crank and pistons will make it a 500. My 455 runs great and I had no plans to change it but $150 for the engine and accessories seems like a good addition to my stash of spares. I guess my question is how scarce are these engines and what are they worth? Thanks in advance for your sage advice.

But he will also need to find a 71-72 Eldorado to get the
necessary
crank, pistons, oil pan and pick-up and the front motormount.
This could get expensive.

I'd just hold out for a 500. Your'e just going to store it anyway, for awhile.

Actually, 68-72 will provide the mount and oil pan/pickup. Don't forget the bearing mount on the right side of the motor.
Personally, I'm with Rusty on this...hold out for a 500. Preferably find a 71 or 72 Eldo and take the whole front clip. THAT would have most everything you need. JMHO
