I'm with you Steve! I dry camped with Uncle Sam for a spell and never
learned to like it!
Having said that during our one year trip in '77 with the 2 youngest, we
dry camped 4 days a week-that is
how long it took to fill the holding tank-then we scooted into a CG for 3
nights to dump/refill water/do laundry/take long lasting hot showers, etc
& etc.
Being on a budget of $1,000 per month forced us to dry camp and later
when I didn't have to-I didn't.

Several of us left before our space fees ran out last year and we
offered our spaces free to those GMCers who were dry camping. I don't
know if anyone took us up on it but it is something to consider. I
don't know if I can handle 8 days in that place, too much fun and all
that...

That is why I own a GMC. I do not like roughing it. We have the GMC setup so we do not rough it when we dry camp. I have everything dry camping that I have hooked up, except air conditioning. If we need air we move to a cooler spot. It took me a couple of years but I have the coach set up now so we can dry camp in style. It is not for everyone and it did not come cheap. But, I got it now so we use it when we can with no hookups. I can not afford to camp in RV parks much so we don't, except during conventions and rallies.
