On the rear of the 455 (facing the tranny and flex plate), is the pass side screw in port the end of the pressurized oil galley? On the driver side, the distributor squirter is the end of the pressurized galley, and it is a few inches inside of the rear wall and is covered by a freeze plug type end on the rear wall. The pass side is a screw in.

There is a modification that I do on the block where the smaller freeze
plug blocks the end of the oil gallery. I pull that press in plug, throw it
away, and taper thread the hole. Then, I screw in a threaded pipe plug
coated with "the right stuff" or similar.
ALSO, A WORD OF CAUTION HERE. Behind the large freeze plug, there is
another threaded oil gallery plug. If you have had your engine "hot tanked"
you need to be aware that machine shops will pull the existing plugs out of
the oil galleries, and replace them with generic plugs. The plug on a 455
industrial block has a .040" diameter hole bored through it to lube the
distributor gears. Be sure that the plug in your engine has the hole, or
your distributor gears are not long for this world. Same thing applies on
the other end of that gallery. A small hole lubes the timing chain and
gears.

That is a great suggestion as we sometimes assume that is done.
Need to remind the machine shop.
