I have been gathering things I will need to be able to change my transmission, final drive and engine. I have seen posts and reference to a transmission lift tool by Ken Henderson. I sure would like to track one down. Please let me know if you know how to find one.

Thanks.

Steve,

Here's the link to my album introducing the TH-425 Lifting Device,
including the drawing for it. Any competent welder should be able to build
one in a few minutes:

HOWEVER, since you plan to remove the engine, transmission, and final
drive, I don't know why you'd need that device. My personal preference is
to remove all 3 of them together. I use the standard (from the manual)
gantry with 2 trolleys and hoists. One chain between two intake manifold
bolts forward of the carb flange, and another chain between 3/8-16 bolts
horizontally into the rears of the cylinder heads enables the two hoists to
tilt the drivetrain to about 45* with the rear down. That enables
the water pump (without the fan) to clear the front crossmember. The whole
thing comes out very nicely. My service rack makes it easier than doing it
on the ground, but rather than jacking the GMC up 24", 30" or so isn't that
much worse.

At least consider your options.

Ken H.
