I would stick with the blue thread locker. Use of red usually requires heat to get it to release.

Rob,

With my one time experience with loose flange bolts, I believe it would be a long time before any of your possibilities happened. With no safety wire would be the first to fail. With safety wire, I don't believe either of us would live long enough to see a total failure.
