the HotRod mag article suggest they get that "worst of both worlds" rap for the same reason the regular quadrajet got a the bad rep., a misunderstanding.

the E4MED, does not even have a 'controller' but it does have a perfect upgrade for cold drivability and another perfect upgrade for A/C idle speed. two of the most common complaints of the original carbs Ive read here.

The 'recirculating' carbs that I've seen merely return fuel to the tank when the float valve is closed, they don't pressure the float bowl.

Im pretty sure that the reasoning behind them. Weber (Weber-Marrelli now) is a huge OEM supplier, aftermarket is not their bread and butter.

my first American made carb was a Carter ThermoQuad that was OEM on an AMC Javelin. (before they were OEM on Ford and Chrysler) these would probably be even better on the GMC than the latest QuadraJets due to the plastic bodies and the electronics in the latest ones:

but that is straying a bit farther out into experimental territory. probably worth it though IMO

I plan to report back but dont hold your breath because all Ive got is a plan right now. lol
