What's the length of a Kingsley's rear bunk?

Avion: 75 x 32
Edgemont: 77 x 34
Royale: 74 x 32

As Rob expected the Kingsley is the same as the Edgemont. The mattresses are 77x34" and the platforms are 77x31.5" on the left and 77x32.25" on the right. There is actually about an inch more headroom toward the center of the coach because of the curve in the rear cap. The built in drawers limit the width of the head of the mattress to 32 for the top 16" and the mattress just squeezes in.

It is interesting that all the fabric is the same button tuffed burnt orange and other than the seat bottoms is in really good shape. My buddy Beau (with the Holiday Rambler 36) has an industrial upholstery cleaning machine. I'll see how it does before we decide to re-cover them.

Had the same on the steel spring frame. Took the upholstery off ( that set
up was bulky and heavy) and placed the slip covered Foam with memory foam
loose on top of the frame, makes it easy to remove the mattress then the
frame to get into the space.
Cut the height of the cabinet down - it will give you more elbow room. I
also insulated the side walls then put thin ply on and covered the ply with
indoor/outdoor carpet - even over the ledge on the drivers side twin.

End of the history trail.

I spoke with Max Purdy who worked with Buskirk for years. It was built before his time but he remembered the coach and the Veitja's (Vjays). He remembered that they had lots of problems with the EFI. He also said that the motor would have been completely rebuilt before Buskirk put it in which means it has about 60K miles on it now. He was pretty sure that Buskirk would have painted it with the 78 color scheme since they did that sort of thing. He also said that even in the 80's folks were putting the Caddys in coaches. He did not know if there is a power drive along with the 346 but said it could well be. At 50mph indicated on my speedometer, my son said I was at 57mph and I was about 3000-3100 rpm which means either the tach is wrong or it has more than just a 3.42 diff. (I discovered yesterday that my gas pedal linkage was bent and only opening the throttle plates 1/2 way...and I thought it was strong before... Shocked Shocked Shocked )

He told me some history of the company after Rick Rush Sr bought it and shortly thereafter died. He said that Rick Jr had no interest in the business and, other than some bumper halves that went to Cinnabar, all the inventory including some stretch frame rails were just sold for scrap. All records were destroyed and the family has no interest in discussing GMC anything.

Based on Bob's comment, I called Cinnabar and when I explained I was intrested in information about a coach built by Buskirk prior to their relationship with Cinnabar. I was told quite tersely that Cinnabar never had a relationship with Buskirk and they had no information about any of his coaches.

So that's the end of the line, history wise.

Kerry,

That "something" next to the EFI computer is the serial port interface with the white coiled wire that you plug into your computer. Ken can help you with cracking the password if needed. Horrors, built in 1996 it says on the interface, you might be running Windows 95 and won't that be fun? Editing now, I misread the picture caption, and I have no idea what that APLW black box is. Thought you might be referring to the serial interface in the picture above

I just ran across this old thread and thought I'd resurrect in case this mystery is still unsolved. The black module with "APLW" label is an OE GM knock module. The scaling parameters for the knock control system were housed in this little module rather than in the ECM circa '85-'95. When ECMs were upgraded to 32 bit in mid '90s this content was moved inside the ECM. You'll need to retain the APLW module and wiring if the system has a knock sensor.
