Tony, I nearly ruptured myself getting up onto that ladder. Even stepping onto the top of the spare didn't make it much easier.
Something about the coach in question tickled my mind this morning. The headliner above the beds in the rear is not OEM. I had attributed that to an earlier water damage repair (and there is water damage and repair required to it now), but the more I think about it it might be that the coach was reconfigured.

Mike,
You need to take another look at the ladder on the coach in Phoenix! ;-)

You use the bumper as the first step. The shown ladder is the same as all three of my coaches.

The headliner shown in pictures 5 and 11, is "stock" Coachman headliner. It is a wallpaper like product over a thin plywood.
See: <http://www.bdub.net/publications/1976%20Birchhaven/1976_Birchaven.htm>
The headliner actually looks in fairly good shape, what little we can see in the provided pictures. If the glue fails, you can
remove the paper and the bare plywood doesn't look that bad as long as long as there isn't much glue residue. (My rear bath is like
this.... a little dark but not ugly.)

There is no telling what might have been done by a PO in an attempt to "freshen" the coach. This one had the carpet replaced, maybe the wall was damaged and replaced with what was available.
Moving the black tank would be no feat for the weekend tinkerer. The cabinet work on the bedroom side of the bathroom and fridge would give a more accurate fix on whether it was a factory job, especially the underside of the shortened wardrobe closet.
Then again, the transmode "factory T" for the generator fuel line on my coach came straight from the plumbing aisle of home depot, so I'm a little less in awe of "factory" work...

I hadn't noticed that the wall paneling next to the couch does not match the wall paneling next to the stove.
You're right it does look like something from a 1980's home improvement store.

Lord willing if all goes well we or I should have some more answers about this coach tonight or sometime tomorrow - after it has been seen.
Tony (Ontario Canada) Marie and I are blessed to have had a 2nd chance to buy our farm. Still hoping and more importantly praying to be able to build a garage. Our 1970 Ultravan #520 has an Olds Toronado 455 in back.

After thinking about it and knowing that the seller is not willing to budge on his price along with what it will take to make this a nice coach again; I have decided to pass on it.
I got all excited about it having twin beds in the back and being the same size as our Ultravans.
However, Marie and I should be looking for a larger coach, with more sotrage for those longer trips and a coach that does not need as much work. Sadly I have too many projects with our Ultravan colloection to be thinking about another one.
I want to think Bob again for taking the time to check this GMC out. At least it was not for nothing. It has a different layout and the members here now have more information about it.
Bob has posted a new thread with more informtion about this GMC and a link to some pictures that he took.

I hope this coach goes to a good home soon!!
BTW - As of this morning my emails are not going out to members.
I'm not sure what I will do. I hate to have to add another email account. I can hardly keep up with the couple I have now.
Sincerely, Tony

Tony--it was fun going up to see the coach! I met some nice people and of course the scenery on the way up is amazing. The pictures really don't do the coach justice. It definitely needs updating and cosmetic maintenance, but there is something about it that shines through. I hope someone will take it on. Buying these coaches remotely is difficult
