I checked with Dometic, told them what i was considering, and they told me the current at that ignition lock is < 1A, so yes, it is just a signal. There didn't appear to be any concern at their end, so I will splice in a length of 12ga wire and check the theory.

I am considering using one of the rocker switches by the door (the ones for the door light, floor, galley & water pump), since they are right next to the fridge - just drill a single hole and I am there. My PO disconnected the water pump rocker switch when he reconfigured the electrical to the pump to work from 2 switches - one in the bathroom by the sink, and the other in the kitchen over the sink. So I thought I would use that for my 12V on/off for the fridge "ignition interlock". Pulled the panel out & of course the wiring is colourful Smile

I have checked the reference wiring diagrams (thanks bdub) https://www.gmcmi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/77-78-livingarea-12vdc.pdf and I think (not sure!) that the wiring is Blk negative (seems to ultimately trace back to a ground), Purple positive, Blue goes to the appliance (originally was the pump, now would be the ignition lock). Has anyone been behind that little panel of switches, or has better eyes than mine and reads "electrical" that can confirm what I think I am seeing on this wiring schematic?

Well, it's done. Wired into that unused water pump switch and everything appears to be in good order.
Tomorrow I will let it run on 12V for a half hour or so while I putter around inside doing the last bits n bobs. If the fins even start to cool down, I will know we are probably working.

Keep in mind, you may not feel much cooling after half an hour on 12V! My current fridge is 2-way, but my old 3-way was VERY slow to cool on 12V...

Hey Rob. Yeah, I didn't think I'd get much in that length of time, but if it will even start to cool the fins, I'm happy to extrapolate that to "it will maintain". I may be wrong. Often am Embarassed I may well have to extend that to an hour or more. I just didn't have time to check that out today. Not willing to turn it on and leave it for 2 hours... yet! At this point, although everything seems just fine, and I went over my wiring scheme (rudimentary a job as it was) several times, and had someone else check it out too, just didn't want to leave it unattended yet. Tomorrow. I need to run the bleach through the system, and get the inside organized, so I'll be right there for a couple of hours.
