Hey John Lebetski. Regarding the following :
Quote:
if you only installed the Pertronics stand alone, would you keep the GM resistor wire? I installed one in a 69 Buick 400. I read the directions every way to Sunday and called them as well and could get no solid answer on this as to resistor or hard 12V.

After having done a 68 Dodge a few months ago, it seemed to me that some of the instructions sheets were pretty clear as to what was needed when it comes to the resistance needed for the pertronix modules. So I checked again. Some instruction sheets may not be so clear. The Module needs to be powered by a ignition switch controlled circuit without resistance but the coil circuit needs to have minimum of 1.5 Ohms for a V8. And 3.0 Ohms for a 4 or 6 cylinder.

Keeping the Factory installed resistance is appropriate in the coil supply.

The modules used on most of the applications are the same so electrically the installs are similar. Here is an install sheet that has the resistance issue well described.

http://www.pertronix.com/docs/instruction-sheets/1141.pdf

Best regards

Well, a Ranger is never going to look 'stock' with this much engine stuffed it it, but the HEI doesn't look all that bad. And, it was cheaper'n vomit in the bargain:

The ebay site looked like they had them with shafts/gears for pretty much any popular engine.
