I thought about taking pictures but did not feel it was proper at such a solemn occasion.

I'll bet if Dan were doing it he would have taken pictures any way. He took pictures of everything.

There are some great pictures of the Veteran's Cemetery on line.

Google "missouri veterans cemetery bloomfield mo" if you are interested.

Ken, thank you for your touching message about Dans Funeral.

I've never met Dan or Teri but he did message me a few times and was always offering help where I needed it. Teri seemed to always be in the back ground but I still remember him talking about when Teri put the window in the GMC over the engine compartment, or maybe he was teasing me. I remember how I smiled thinking she was doing that kind of work.

I can't be remiss, Dan and Teri had touched me and reading your message brought it all home. I am not good with good byes, and from time to time the monitor gets a bit blurry as it happens when I had been touched by someones kindness.

I hope Teri and family the best and that she continues in the GMC family, I'm glad you shared a hug, I was there with you in spirit.

Good bye Dan, thank you for everything.

I'm not good at good byes and funerals. If I can get out of attending a funeral I will do so. In this case I felt I had to go and wanted to go. Dan was a very good friend.

I am convinced that Teri planned and ran this funeral even though I have no confirmation of that. As I said before it was the best funeral I have ever attended. I normally would not rate a solemn occasion like a funeral, but this one was exceptional and it was a fitting memorial to Dan, his life, and to his extended family.

Many times when Dan and I were communicating during his treatments I would ask Dan a question, and he would say "I do not know. Teri handles that." Or if I would give him a piece of information and he would say "I'll pass that on to Teri." Teri is a very strong and dedicated person and when it came to Dan no one could have better. We all need someone like her in our lives. Unfortunately there are not that many Teri's to go around in this world.

So you have had the pleasure of knowing one (place your adjective here) couple. I just hope that Teri has time off now to get some rest. I did not ask her what she planned GMC wise going forward. When I left there I assumed that we will hear more from from her in the future. I know Laurie and I will try to keep in contact with her. The GMC thing with them was not just Dan. It was and still is Dan and Teri or Teri and Dan. Why does the male usually get listed first?

OK. People have chimed in. Those that knew him personally and those that
knew him via the GMCnet.

As far as I'm concerned, Dan was the driver. Teri was the navigator,
cook, event planner, mechanic, etc. It reminds me of the football team.
Teri was the team and Dan was the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders don't win
games.

Though Teri is strong and focused, she felt free to do so because Dan
was solidly behind her. Now that he's no longer her in the flesh, that
will change her situation. Though she's had a lot of attention in the
past week, it's the weeks ahead that will tell the difference in who her
real friends are and what her support network is composed of. It's at
those times, when everyone else seems to have gotten back to their
routines, that Teri will miss Dan the most and need us.

I'm very please and not at all surprised that Ken Burton made the trip.
It was important that he be there. I go to funerals because it's the
least I can do to show my respect and admiration. Had we not been in
Kissimmee, FL I would have made the trip from Louisville, KY. I'm also
please that Luther McConnell was also present.

Dan fought well. However, there are some things in life we'll not all
physically overcome. Being a winner involves so much more than living a
number of years. Dan made a tremendous impact and lived fervently by his
faith. He was a real winner.
