Sully,
I'll defer to your experience using CLR, but I would be afraid of using it around aluminum components.
I would be more likely to try soap first for the oil removal and see what I had after that.
What is your experience with it around aluminum? Will it damage aluminum, and heater and radiator cores?

I share your caution about using clr on unplated aluminum. I used it on chrome, porcelain , glass and gel coat and it worked very well for hard water deposit removal.

It will also remove the chrome(?) plating on a shower head! Turned mine a coppery color!
