The origional one is constant duty.
I have owned these coaches for over 30 years and have been in
situatios where I lowered both bags to camp then had to pump up both.
There was a company that sold 70% duty units as direct replacement for
our standard compressors and had nothing but complaints. Now they warn
you of that when you purchase one.
This type of questioning started way before most even thought of
purchasing one of thes coaches.

If you have a big 6kw generator and outlets everywhere i would use electric
for a grinder where you need huge cfm for rpm and torque. I have two
ingersoll Rand 2 stage #253 five horse three phase compressors plumbed to
one 80 gallon receiver tank at my body shop and one tech running a high
speed air grinder or disc sander while the painter is painting can deplete
the system enough to cause both pumps to operate at the same time to keep
up. For this reason all operations which can be handled with electric tools
are done with such to keep from over working the air system. Even a 220v 3
horse power house compressor will not keep up with a spray gun or dual
action sander without frequent breaks to allow the tank to catch back up. Id
run a 4" makita electric and use a rechargeable cordless drill and save the
air for tires and a blow gun.

I bought an electric impact wrench at Harbor Freight for use on the road. No need for a compressor.

I think I saw an atricle to this effect... It was for "on board air" for 4x4's. York Air Conditioner compressor converted to pump air into a tank. Belt driven off the motor, enough air for almost anything. I think it was on a Jeep site. Google should be able to find it.

Guess I didn't know that. I'll have to look that up.
I know mine didn't work well enough, even after a rebuild. Used a cheap
Shucks compressor for a couple years. That definitely wasn't the
answer. :^)
> I have owned these coaches for over 30 years and have been in

Only had mine for 9 years, but I do that all the time. When I store the
coach I set blocks under the bogey block and dump the bags. Every time
I use the coach I pump the system from dead empty to 75-80psi. That's
air tank and bags on a '73, of course. Takes about 4 minutes, last time
I measured. Well within specs for these 25% Viairs.
> There was a company that sold 70% duty units as direct replacement for

Could be their 70% was optimistic. Or their compressors were just junk.
> This type of questioning started way before most even thought of

I wasn't around then, I'm afraid.
If these compressors only last a couple/three years I'll be sure to let
folks know that 25% duty cycle isn't good enough. Logic, and how they
SAY you can use them, says it is. I did my research beforehand. I
certainly didn't discount the fact that you sold 100% duty cycle
compressors but decided that shouldn't be necessary.
It's almost like "Because we've always done it that way" is a personal
challenge sometimes. I know it drove my Dad nuts. :^)

Frankly, Don, I haven't had a chance! You see, I live in Fremont - only a few exits away from Jim Kanotomatoes's place...
I doubt it would have the grunt of the best, but it's enough that my wife would think I'm really trying before we call for a truck ;~)

Yep - the memory cells are waking up. It was a jeep site. They need the air for airing up their tires after going soft for rock crawling and impacts for tire changing.
