Robert Mueller wrote on Sun, 18 July 2010 19:59 | G'day,
I reckon there's an way to determine whether or not to loan tools, parts,
manuals, whatever.
1) Take a picture(s) of the item you have been asked to loan out.
2) Post that picture(s) to the photo site.
3) Send a message to the GMCnet and note that Joe Blogs has requested you
loan him a left handed monkey wrench and you've posted a picture of it on
the photo site.
4) Ask if anyone has had any problems with Joe borrowing "stuff."
5) Cc: Joe on all communications.
If you don't get any responses that's a good sign that you should be OK.
Having said that there is no way I would loan out a $300+ bearing tool kit
to someone I didn't know personally. At least not without a $300+ cash
deposit!

PS - This goes double for Downunder, remember Australia used to be a penal
colony! Lots of the current residents still have shackle marks around their
ankles!

Guys look, I have mailed out that bag out many times and it always returned. I have loaned other tools to GMCers and they always returned. GMCers are honest and I trust them. This is why I choose to think the best of this fellow. Something happened to this guy either memory or a mistake on his part.
If I ever get another spare bag from someone, I'll buy another cheap compressor, some schraders, some more stainless nuts and put the kit together again. I'll loan it out on request and just do a better job of tracking it and verifying the requester.
GMCers are honest people and let's not get carried away thinking otherwise.
This is from some one who leaves the keys in his car and his house unlocked at home, but routinely carries a gun in areas where the honesty of people is unknown. GMCers are people I trust at my home.
