""So to take some of the strain off of the radiator has anyone figured out
where to put some of these 'coolers' other than in front of the
radiator....maybe combined with an electric fan???
""

You are absolutely correct in you assumption. no mattter where you put the coolers in front of the radiator, it becomes part of the overall system. Those who position them in upper or lower parts of the airstream and think they are avoiding a major disruption as part of the cooling system are kidding themselves. Given all that, a well functioning GMC radiator can handle a transmission cooler and a power steering cooler as well as an AC condenser all in front of a well functioning stock radiator.
