Gary Berry wrote on Mon, 15 March 2010 11:45 | Hey Emery;
Yep, that was there, and there was a list of spaces that were
reserved (a lot of them) and I guess a list of open sites. I stood
there for 15 minutes trying to figure out their code, their map, and
their instructions, but none of it made sense and I didn't want to
wind up in someone's reserved site, so I left. I'll try and stay there
again, but only if I get there before the office closes or if you or
others go with me and you can tell me how the system works. To me,
Walmarts and rest areas are easier than campgrounds if you show up
late. Plus, what happens if you get up early and want to leave before
the office opens?

What I like about Walmarts is they are quieter than flying J or Lowes or most RV parks near Interstates. - No idling trucks all night at Walmart. They are also a one stop shop for everything I need to buy and at most of them I can go shopping anytime of night that I want something.
I did run into one FlyingJ just east of Denver that had no overnight parking for RVs even though they had hundreds of trucks parked there. The Flying J people told me to park in the employee lot as the cops could not check there.
I have heard that there are a lot of Walmarts in Kalifornia where you can not park. I have not run into them but I do not drive a GMC there very often. On my last trip to the Peoples Republic, Dan picked me out a Walmart to stop at on I-80. It was not a problem.

Ken: and others: If you have any trouble parking or any other issues at a Flying J, just tell them you are a registered voter in Tennessee. The Flying J new owner is Pilot OIl Co, Owned by Bill Haslam mayor of Knoxville, who is running for governor of Tennessee.
