Matt,

Looking at the big picture on "no overnight camping" is not focued as much on folks hunkering down at Wall-mart but at people like I saw in LA where old beat up RV's are parked everywhere-- in plazas, mall parking lots even on the streets with blocked off windows and everything with people literally squatting there and living.  This really is a problem for security, competition for parking spots and all sorts of other stuff.  Unfortunatly, laws have to be for everyone and we have to fit ourselves into them.

When travelling, I usually fuel up and eat and whatever at Flying J truck stops or maybe Loves or another one.  They will let you sleep a while in the truck areas and really thats what you are looking for.  You can hang in a reast area for a good rest as long as you don;t roll out your awing, plop out lawn chairs and pull out the barby so that also works for me.

Wally World has attracted those that want the right to do whatever they want on someone elses dime and thats not fair.  There are liability, cleanliness and security considerations that are attached with you cooling your jets on a property and my guess is Wal-Mart probably has it's share of nucance suits they are fighting on unscrupulous people trying to get something for nothing from them.

Hey, plan your trip around nation, state and local parks-- they are cheaper, use the truck stops to sleep and do whatever and know that not everyone is as considerate as you are.

Larry,

Walmart has Never Changed their policy.
Many communities have put "no RV parking off campgrounds and storage lot" ordinances in at the behest of local RV parks that think they are losing a night's rate to us Wally World campers.

This is an amazingly short-sighted approach.  When we travel in the coach - probably a lot like most other GMC owners - where we stop for the night is a matter if tiredness and convenience.  We are not predisposed to pay 30+ for a flat spot that provides services we don't need or want.  So, when the data base says no over-night in that town, we go on to the next town without stopping to look for an "RV Resort" of any nature.
