I installed a macerator on my 1975 Avion in 1983 or 1984. I've sold the Avion, but still read the net. Once a GMC'er always a GMC'er.I've never seen that problem on mine. I usually pour a decent amount of anti freeze in the holding tank and run the macertor until I can hear that the liquid is gone. Then I pour more in and leave it.

I have had a problem with my mascerator locking up and not starting (just kicks out the circuit breaker) and Tom Hampton told me that using RV antifreeze will leave a deposit on the impeller which will tend to bind the impeller to the housing. When I take my screwdriver and turn the impeller counterclockwise just a bit the mascerator will start and run fine.

Anybody else experience this problem?
