There is not an investment that I can think of that is worse than a new
automobile from the dealership. Talk about a lose/lose deal, that is top of
the heap. I have purchased three new cars in my lifetime.
A brand new 1964 Volkswagen beetle. $1758.90 with a Blaupunkt am
radio in the back seat in a box.
When the PT Cruiser was first introduced, we put $1000.00 down and
waited a year for our Inferno Red 5 speed with touring suspension. You
don't want to know how much money that cost. My wife took it to the
dealership to have a 50,000 mile service, and came home with a Candy
Tangerine 2003 Dream Cruiser. Every bell and whistle option you could pile
on. Still have that car. It was my first wife Mary's daily driver until she
died. I can't bring myself to part with it, yet. It has all the faults
corrected that the first one had. Really well matched automatic
transmission to the power curve of that 2.4 liter turbocharged, fuel
injected 220 horsepower engine.
Goes like a pocket rocket. Has enough power to get you in trouble on
wet roads if you are stupid. (Which I profess to be) in performance
oriented machinery. Best hot rod I have ever had.
