Thank you Kens, Jon and Emery.
I think I understand the fusible link much better as well as the alternator excite wire. I have an October 1973 coach and every single time I look under anyones passenger access panel I see something different and something different from what is under my own. Having never had a problem with my link, I didn’t even know which wire it was. I already have installed the Alternator Protection Cable so, in theory, I shouldn’t have a problem with my exciter cable either.

Ken, I will take your counsel that a fusible link is fundamentally different than a breaker and should not be replaced with one. Apparently Jeff Sirum has a different opinion.
