Bob has an EL2, probably the worst design I can imagine, obviously designed by an accountant not an engineer,
It has 2 tiny compressors, no pressure limits ( in stock form, Bobs coach has an aftermarket limit)
The compressors are probably a bit worn but still... it's so SLOW. Literally hard to see if it's moving WITH a tape measure on the frame.

I have 1/4" tubing on my coach and when I hook it up to shop air it's fast. Up from fully deflated to all the way up in 10-15 seconds.
I have a ViAir 450c and it's a LOT slower 3x tp 5x slower. I want to put in a dual 850 system, no more nonsense.
The limit is definitely the air source, not the tubing.

Air tanks? I'm with Jonathan, 1 gallon is probably plenty, 1/2 is probably better, 2 gallon is probably useless.
FWIW, my shop air will come on when raising the coach from deflated, and it has a 50 gallon tank. How big do I need!

Why? because WHEN you bring the 2 gallon down below the pressure switch point you now have all the volume of the bag(s) PLUS the volume of the tank to fill to raise the coach. That big tank is just overhead.
With a small tank you canstill make small adjustments without running the compressor. and larger adjustments have less overhead.
I'd like a way to bypass the tank until ride height is reached and THEN fill it, Hmmmm

Valves also make a huge difference, my new valves are significantly faster than the old valves

Using pneumatics to move something is about VOLUME. You will need larger diameter tubing and fittings to appreciably increase speed of inflation of the air bags! Go back to the Norgren Valve catalog and note the orfice size of the valves. Add in the length of the urethane tubing with the flow friction coefficient. As you probably sense, it is not a matter of just replacing the compressor.
