For the past 2 years I have been using the NAPA belt #A56 for my alternator/water pump installation. Most of the belts available today have shrank in width to 10MM or slightly less. These A56 belts are the wide type belts like the original width belts of the past and fit the drive pulleys. The rule of thumb lately has been to use a 10MM wrench and if it fits over the belt then most likely the belts will sit too far down in the pulley and eventually start to slip and squeal. If the wrench does not fit over the belt then you have a better chance of avoiding the problems.
