I am a division manager for a telecommunications contract company. My area, is crews that work inside buildings and homes. My office/warehouse/shop, is split up between my crews and our Wireless Division. Our underground ditch digging is in another building. They are always wanting to hire the "young guys", but we have to be politically correct and not be discriminatory about age. It is amazing what these crews do out there at 100', 200' or 2000' in the air. They do all there "jobsite QC" checks now by live video. after they complete the site upgrades or work, they then go climb all over the tower, rooftops, water tower... You name it they put antennas on it. and hold on to a cell phone and video conferencing with the so called engineers/QC guys sitting somewhere else in a nice office checking all the mounts, connections ect.... So far they have not dropped a phone. Pretty crazy and fun stuff to watch. My coworker in the next office certifies the climbers with a tower we have right onsite here and it is only 40-50 feet, and they do practice rescues off of it.

on the GMC note- sounds like he will be digging into the front of the engine. The harmonic balancer is kinda a 2 part deal, and can become separated, but that is so very rare. Just hope there is no other internal damage to the engine from running hot. glad you were able to at least attempt to assist.
