Someone different experience here, but I had the governor on the ONAN go out last year which caused a severe overvoltage and fried my converter and everything plugged into 120V at the time.
I looked into protection from a similar event in the future and they are too expensive for a hard wired unit. I ended up doing away with the onan instead.
