Tom,

For my trip to the West Coast in '13, I bought and used a Millenicom MiFi.
At that time, it was $69 per month, with no contract, for 20GB (which they
didn't monitor very carefully and didn't cut off then). It used the
Verizon network and the Verizon MiFi receiver (which they sold for $99).
That was an extremely satisfactory solution; the 20GB was more than
adequate for 16yo Dennis and me. When SHE showed up and started streaming
movies, I had to retrain (HA!) HER. It was at least as fast as the 2GB
down rate we get on our AT&T DSL.

Unfortunately, Millenicom is no more -- Verizon assumed all of their open
contracts in Nov '14. I don't know whether they offer(ed) anything similar
to the original plan because I was no longer active with them at that
time. I still have the JetPack, and know that I could activate it on my
current Verizon if I were willing to pay a slight fee. With an smartphone
capable of acting as a 5 user hotspot, I no longer have any reason to
consider it.

If you haven't already found it, this site seems to stay abreast of current
RV internet options:
