We've had our 73 Stretch since 2005. It is based on a 74 CanyonLands. Don't
know who did the stretch, but have only seen one other from this particular
manufacturer. It is stretched roughly 3 feet behind the bogies. It has
proven to be a wonderful transition from the 76 Palm Beach that we had for
7 years. We have put over 50k miles on it in the 10 years since we took
over stewardship. I have kept it updated with the various new products that
have been offered by the great GMC vendors. The rear bearings and the stock
suspension are working just fine. I did put the 1-Ton System and the
Reaction Arm systems on it and it certainly stops better. The Bogie
Greasers are great. I tow a vehicle or a trailer every time we go anywhere
so it is slower going over the hills, but I'm retired and I really don't
care. I drive 55 on the Rostra cruise control. It does scrape the rearend
at times but I have 5 heavy duty wheels across the back to keep it rolling.
I have never turned sharp enough to hit anything with the rearend. I love
driving this thing, and if the grandkids hadn't gotten bigger I wouldn't
have bought the SOB, but just found out that they won't be traveling with
us anymore so now I have to convince Diana to give up the extra space and
get back into the Stretch. It's going to be tough.
