Paul,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.

I was going to get back to you yesterday, but we hit a place in Nebraska with poor coverage and I forgot about it last night at Walmart. I try to ONP at Cabela's because they have marked off areas and a dump, all but Kearny.

It is relatively obvious that what happened is the PO did not understand that the conduit was the safety ground. That is how mine is even though it the drawing indicates a wire ground. In your case, there should be a green or bare wire in the conduit box. You can add the ground wire there easily. There used to be a box on the heater that would have carried the safety ground. The box and conduit had to be there because of the temperature.

I see that you have already found th value of being a member of this community. It won't get better only because there is no room. When you became a GMC owner and came here, you suddenly ended up with a cadre of old friends eager to assist you at keeping the old girl road worthy. You will also soon find that the coach is more than just another toy. It will become a part of your life. This and the community all remind me of my world of watermen. For that reason, I like to welcome new owners here much as a new owner or vessel is welcomed to that community. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome Paul

Matt - Now in Mountain time and headed towards Denver

Tom, Hal and Karl,

Thanks for the advice and your observations. I'll install/restore a ground wire from the water heater to the power panel ground circuit...before my next GMC shower Smile

Thanks!

Paul
