If you have 12 volts on the coil, and it drops and returns as the engine cranks, but no sparks appear, your options are a bad condenser and/or a bad coil and/or a bad connection. This is a circumstance where an analog meter is Your Friend. It is quite easy to see the needle swing upscale as the points close and down as they open if you are metering voltage directly on the coil posts while cranking.
