Sean,
I think that you have the line sizes reversed. The smaller line is the liquid or high pressure side and the bigger line if the vapor or the low pressure line. This would be a good time to replace the hoses to the compressor. You can get them from several GMC suppliers and if you take it off and go to a place that make AC lines they could replace the rubber sections and you would be good to go. You can also get the necessary Tee’s and fittings from the same people. Go to the yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking, or buy new.
