Jack, it is the vacuum switch on the back of the heater controls. It opens and closes all the air doors on the HVAC.

NAPA A/C vacuum switch 207709 About $29 irrc. You can get the same thing cheaper off ebay but Napa had it in their wearhouse and I got it the next am. My old one just wouldn't work right.

The new switch fixed most my problems. Air doors operate quick and positive. I have a whistle while one particular door cycles but that's not the valves problem other than the pot is getting more vacuum. I have a dead recirculate door pot but for now, in the winter, I don't want much outside air anyway so I've blocked it off.
