The problem with news is the lack of follow up. I guess Fukushima is all cleaned up now as we hear no news about it. The story that R12 or 22 were not responsible for upper atmosphere o3 depletion would be a big story, but no followup. A melted hose on an R12 system can cause a huge fireball. Oil spray works that way in a depressurizing system. Workes great in oil fired furnaces and waste oil burners. My moto is to use the refigerant that the system was designed for.


At first I thought you were about to say R12 burns I used to use R12 and R22 as a fire extinguisher if I caught a system on fire with my welding rig. You are correct about the oil it is always the cause of the fire.
