Brian,

Please advise if you have spark.

If you don't there is another component in the distributor that could cause the problem Reference Parts Book 78Z / Section 7 -
Electrical / Page 7-031A - Key 18 / Pole & Piece plate.

Subject: [GMCnet] Trouble on the road

During the restoration of my 1977 Kingsley 455, I have consistently had
trouble with the coach dying unexpectedly. After rebuilding the carb
and replacing the fuel lines back to the rear solenoid (but not all the
way to the top of the tanks) I thought I had the problem taken care of with
no more issues driving around denver for the last month, so we loaded up
for California. We drove straight through to rock springs wy, slept and
got back on the road to Salt Lake City without issue, other than on steeper
grades where the coach seemed reluctant near the top of the hills, barely
making a few of them. Then, just as we got on I-15 in SLC, she died on the
flat road. After cooling for a half hour, it started again and would run
for ten miles or so before repeatedly getting hot and dying again. I made
it into town and put in an electric fuel pump near the rear tank solenoid
hoping to overcome any vapor lock issues without luck, and then replaced
the module and coil in the distributor but still have the problem. I have
boiled the radiator and the coach runs cool. We would appreciate any ideas
anyone might have for us at this point. Thanks!

Brian
