Traffic can be miserable at times, on and off the freeways. I live 17 miles from Santa Monica, on a good day it takes 35 minutes and I have had it take as much as an hour and a half! If you do decide to take all the coaches, try and hit the area after about 10:00am as traffic is much much less at that time of day. It then really starts to build up again around 3:30pm. Early in the am till about 7:30 or late pm after about 7:30pm also work well. Hope that helps!! The 10 freeway takes you right into Santa Monica, and merges effortlessly onto north Highway 1, Pacific Coast Highway up towards Malibu.
(I’ve always been fortunate that I could walk from my home to work, and not have to put up with all of that awful traffic).
