Well, today was a journey from Cahokia, Illinois to Battlefield, MO. at
Randy Van Winkle's place.We will be here tonight and tomorrow night,
leaving for Vinita, OK. on the following day.Today was a scheduled
maintence stop. Turns out there is a bit much more maintence to do. When we
started engines this morning, John and Deb Harper's coach began to run very
rich. So, we just put them in gear and headed for the nearest gas station.
All 4 coaches filled up and we headed out for our next adventure. When we
got up to speed, Harper's coach seemed to smooth out, so we rolled along to
the first rest stop and pulled off. When we were all finished,and once
again ready to leave, the coach flooded and would not restart. The float
sank again. So, I pinched off the fuel line and John started the engine.
When it began to stumble for lack of fuel, I unclamped the hose, and he
threw it into gear, and off he went. Straight through to Randy's without
stopping or shutting off the coach. I followed as chase car, and the other
coaches went onto a side road to see more route 66 attractions. When I
arrived at Randy's, I took the carb apart again and replaced the gasket and
put a new float in that Randy had gotten locally. We still need to replace
the Onan cylinder head gaskets and put on a new shift cable and a lower
steering column bearing and clip. Some of our group decided to go to
Branson, Mo to take in a show and they will rejoin us tomorrow. Ron and
Pattie Smith broke a part on their 5th wheel hitch, and cannot resume until
they replace it on Monday. So much for the traveling road show. More later.
