Do know what stall speed is best? I would guess some where @ 2000 rpm or less with a 500.

I thought I read at one point the stock tc is @ 2600 with the 403 or 455.

Stall speed is only one of several measures. You also need to think about stall ratio which is an indication of the torque multiplication. I suspect the real trail of correct torque converters has been lost. Even if it fits, the diameter and all of its performance characteristics can be wrong. That's the danger of going on your own and making major non original changes.
