The best thing to do is check them once a month. They may not need water for 3 or more months but check them monthly. I lost a couple a few years ago only because I did not check them regularily. Fluid dropped below the plates twice and they were no good after, 2 years old. We never plug the coach in at home. But, the solar contoller keeps them charged. Normally I will need to add a little monthly. If the fluid gets below the top of the plates, you are about to have problems. This needs to be on a monthly check list. I know a good converter should not boil them but sometimes it happens. There is also such a thing as evaporation.
