Daryn,
The problem is not so much caused by emissions from the vehicles around
you while in traffic, it is mostly all coming from your own engine
compartment. Ducting from another location is nearly impossible because of
the proximity of the access panels and the wiper mechanisms. If you have a
'75 or '76, the solution is to change it over to a complete recirc system
by opening up the original hole from the cockpit to the rear HVAC plenum,
and blocking off the underhood intake. The system will also perform much
better this way. Here is an excellent article on the different types of
systems GM used on the GMC. The best is the '77 and '78.
