In the last photo, the elbow that goes off to the left is the exhaust and the one that goes straight up through the diaphram through and elbow and the just visible check valve is the suction. It does indeed suck.

I now have it plumbed into one of the booster ports and manifold vacuum into the other as shown in the first photo.
