If you hooked your ele choke up to a "keyed" source of 12vdc and do not
have an ele fuel pump. That delay that you experience while cranking the
engine to get fuel to the carb, and fill the float bowl is enough time for
the choke to start pulling off. A better source of 12vdc is the alternator
output lug. No 12vdc until the engine is running and that makes for a
slightly longer warm up period on before the choke pulls off.
