For a very Informal camp out I would normally suggest the Illinois beach State Park CampGround. Power and Electric, and you have to move to Dump.
I do no believe they have recovered from the Storms that tore us up. The Hotel and Restaurant is open but is also going through recovery.
If you will be up by the Baraboo Circus Museum, if you have the time you may like to see the HOUSE ON THE ROCK in the same general area. The tour is a lot of walking with a stop at a commesary midway. Collections of many many things including the house that was built up top of a rock clif.. It is amazing if you can get by the commercialization.
