There is one that you should not miss at Baraboo, WI, (worth the 30 mile diversion). The Circus Museum may no longer have shows running, but just the wagon barn is worth the stop. Want to see the first retractable stairs?? If the shows are running, plan to lose a days travel.
If you are going up toward Green Bay, then mark Oshkosh for the EAA museum if you care about such things.
As long as you are going that way, see if you can make Peshtigo. The Peshtigo Fire museum has very little because everything burned in the massive fire. There is one display cabinet and lots of news paper clippings. 2400 square miles were burned and they guess that there were between 12 & 2400 dead. This was at the same time as the Chicago fire, but since telegraph poles all burned down, they didn't get any press.
