Thanks for info Matt, I can see now why this has caused some confusion. Didn't realise all pipework was originally copper.I have some copper (not much) nearly all is plastic/PVC but even that is differing brands, some is an opaque colour and some is grey so there has been extensive re-plumbing done by P/O.
Like i said in earlier posts its the difference between the standard U/S / UK sizes that is the problem.
U/S 1/2"= bore = 5/8 OD
UK 1/2"= OD = 3/8 bore
I'm sure any U/S plastic pipe /fittings will be compatible
