Short term: Insert two flat blade screwdrivers (brake adjuster toll set preferred) to back off the star wheel.

Long term (immediately after that): Check for two things:

1) Are the primary/secondary aka leading/trailing shoes reversed? Compare the amount of lining "wrap" with the other brakes if you don't have the GMC manual. Don't forget that one side is mirrored, and don't be fooled by the parking brake cable position.

2) Are the star wheels installed backwards? One side is right hand thread, the other is left hand thread. On mine, there were 3 of one and one of the other!
