Well, the "Big Storm" ended here about 3PM. I got on the tractor and plowed out 5 houses including my 400 foot driveway and the neighbor's 400 foot driveway. I now have lots of snow piles 6 to 8 feet high all over the place. The county already had the roads plowed before I started so I went down the road and plowed out all of the mailboxes. That will make Debby our mail lady happy tomorrow.

We were finished and the tractor put away by 7PM. We went out with a ruler and measured the snow in several places in the front yard. It looks like we got 18+ inches of snow.

All of the auto traffic around here seems to be moving just fine. I went to the gas station in town to fill up with diesel for the tractor. Then we stopped at the grocery store and a local sports bar on the way back. Everything is fine here.

The TV says that the Chicago patronage workers are having a heck of a time clearing snow in Chicago. It sounds like nothing has changed since 1979 when every suburb and rural area could clear their snow with no problems but Chicago has a mess. I worked in the center of Chicago at the time and commuted in from rural Indiana daily. There was no problem anywhere until you hit the city limits of Chicago. This went on for weeks. They eventually got a new mayor because of it. The current mayor has already said he would not run again so a snow problem is no big deal to him.

Some things never change.

Sorry fellows, but here in North Carolina we had almost 70 degree weather yesterday and a lot of sunshine. I even got a little work done on the motorhome. Our turn on snow will probably be next since we live at the base of the mountains but we had our share of snow twice this year.
