Dave,

Think about it this way: I am 6' 1" tall and weigh 255 lbs (yes I'm
overweight)!

I reckon that that the 20' long aluminum body would weigh more than twice
what I weigh would it not? I reckon your swag of 1000 lbs is more like it
and probably that's low too.

I do think you're being optimistic when you note "i could probably find
someone willing to spend a weekend cutting and stripping." I don't think
that one person could strip the foam out AND cut the body up in a weekend. I
would suggest you mark off a couple of square feet and time how long it
takes to get the foam off to a level that the recycle place will accept.

Regards,
Rob M.

It is surprising, given the incredible amount of information (all of it
vitally important) this group has on the GMC, that no one has ever needed to
know the weight of the aluminium.

Does anyone want to offer a SWAG?

The price for dirty aluminum is $.47 at my local recycle place so if there's
1000 lb then i could probably find someone willing to spend a weekend
cutting and stripping.

But if it's only 4 or 500 lb then I'll probably just pay to have it hauled.
