G'day,
One of my Mates Downunder is looking for a set of aluminum wheels for his
Ford Pickup. It is a 1982 F-100 that came with 15" 5 lug wheels. He would
like me to find some 16" wheels so he can have better tire selection.
I have looked at aftermarket wheels and found that the ones that he would
like are 8" and are too wide for 225/75-16 (yes the same as our GMC's and
the Australian Motorhome he has). That tire runs on 6-7" rims.
I intend to buy them for him and ship them back to Australia with the Caddy
500.
I did a Google search but didn't come up with any definitive info.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or provide a link to a website
where I can see a list of Ford F-xxx truck wheels sizes and bolt patterns
that might fit.
Thanks,
Rob M.

Rob,
2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?
Both use the 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern (Common on older trucks) but the center bore is much larger on the 4x4. (For the front hubs.) As they are lug centered, I am sure a 4x4 wheel will work on a 2 wheel drive but not the other way around.
The 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern has been used on old Jeeps, Ford and Dodge trucks and vans. (All half ton.) This is also the pattern for my Suzuki Sidekick that I tow behind my GMC. (GMC content.) Some of the later (95-99) Sidekicks(Vitara), Trackers, and Dodge Ram 1500's had 16 inch wheels. (Some even aluminum.) The 16 inch wheels seem to be at least 7 or 7.5 inches wide or wider.
I bought a set of steel 16 inch rims, from a Ford van, of Craig's List a while back for $50 or so... the center bore was to small for my Sidekick. I sold them on Craig's list for $75.
Hopefully this will help.
