G'day,
On the way down to the Keys the LOW AIR light was on the Powerlevel system
all the time and that the tank only had 80 psi in it. If I jumped the power
to the compressor directly it would pump up to 140 no problem.
Since my Hong Kong Harley buddy's wife in Cape Coral took ill and wasn't up
to seeing visitors we changed our plans and headed back to the COOP.
When we got there Jim got his trouble light out and in two seconds found
that the Viair relay I installed when I replaced the old Thomas compressor
for the Viair 280C had fried.
We then looked at the plug and wires that connect to the relay. We noticed
that the wire that supplies power to the Viair was WAY too small so Jim got
me one that had heavy leads on it and I installed it. Good to go.
We then headed for Frank & Nini Jenkins hacienda in Gainesville and the
system worked fine all the way.
We spent a nice afternoon visiting with them and then had a great dinner.
Frank and I BBQ'd some steaks and Helen and Nini made the "fixin's."
We're about to head up to the house and have a second cup of coffee before
we head for Chez Henderson in Americus.
Regards,
Rob & Helen M.
PS - We did not experience any vapor lock problems even at the toll booths
on the Florida Turnpike. I attribute that to the fact that we had filled up
with about 28 gallons of gas at Sam's Club in Orlando and the fuel in the
tanks never go hot enough plus we ran into a rainstorm about sixty miles out
of Gainesville.
